This privat museum is located nearly 20m away from the parents home at Klapdorp 121, where several generations of the Mortelmans grew up.
The exposition rooms are on the first and second floor.
Highlights are the artists Lodewijk Mortelmans, Frans Mortelmans and their cousin Franck Mortelmans, aswell the artistic circles of De Scalden and Lumière have their attention.

With the participation of the Mortelmans foundation, the Bösendorfer piano of Lodewijk Mortelmans is sheltered here.
Philibert Mees who played for many years on this exceptional instrument, bought earlier this piano from composer and conductor Ivo Mortelmans, son of Lodewijk.
Several pianists such as Jozef de Beenhouwer, Peter Vanhove, Nina Ardashirova, Sylvia Traey, Gabriel Hollander, Kiyotaka Izumi, gaved us great pleasure to play on this piano.

On this special day Philip Heylen, alderman of culture of the city of Antwerp, as many family members and art lovers came to visit.
Peter Vanhove played here some piano works of Lodewijk Mortelmans on the Bösendorfer.

Lodewijk Mortelmans was also founder, founding member and first president of the authors rights association NAVEA, with membership Nr. 1, and was member of the Royal Flemish Academy for Sciences, Literature and Fine Arts.

As token of appreciation SABAM granted a cupper commemorative plate.
Ben Geyselinck (former secretary) and Jan Baeyens (actual secretary) of the friends of SABAM, handed over this plate to Dirk Schiltz.


          This plate has been placed outside of the Mortelmans house.


1923 Muziekwarande

The magazine "De Muziekwarande" was founded by Emiel Hullebroek and was published from 1922 till 1932. These last two years it even became the official magazine of NAVEA
